Location
Both areas are near Newby Bridge on the A590 in the south Lake District, in the North West of England.
Travel by public transport:
- By air – Nearest airports are Manchester (90 miles / 90 minutes by road), Liverpool (100 miles / 100 minutes), and Leeds / Bradford (75 miles / 120 minutes).
- By rail – Nearest station on the west coast mainline is Oxenholme (17 miles / 25 minutes by road). There are slightly closer stations on the south lakes branch line at Grange-over-Sands and Ulverston. See National Rail for times and tickets.

Accommodation
The Lake District offers plenty of holiday accommodation options. We will add links here as we spot them:
- There are many privately let accommodations in the area. Best place to start is airbnb.
- Nearest Youth Hostels at Hawkshead, Coniston, Windermere and Ambleside.
- Visit Lake District contains links for hotels, B&B, cottages & self-catering, and camping and caravan sites.
- There are a number of cottages at both Graythwiate Estate and Bigland Hall.
